The armour of God as you have mentioned is the very life and evidence of christ in us manifested by us being unified in his crucifixion. Therefore every principle or grace we are exhorted to put on is the manifestation of the spirit of christ. In doing so by the grace in his crucifion we are in the flesh rendered weak and helpless, but invigorated by the ressurection of his life. Therefore we fight as spirits rather than mortals, which is infinitely more wise and powerful and effective than if we had to fight as mortals. The armour of God also gives witness to the ressurection of the Lord Jesus, and is a symbolic attestation to the truth of the Gospel. The Love of David and Jesus bless your understanding.
