Our Healer! all the more…

Our Healer! all the more..., Mike or Michael Guglielmucci, writer of HEALER

I was a little disturbed when comments came on one of my previous post, Healer, This Is Our God. There were claims that Mike or rather Michael Guglielmucci is a fraud. A pastor of the Planetshakers, he has deceived everyone including his congregation and maybe even his own family that he has terminal cancer, which is not true. I was a little skeptical at first but after some digging on the internet, I was a little sad to find it on the news, see here. The Australian Christian Churches Assemblies of God have also released an official public statement, see here.

While Mike had shared with thousands in Australia, he has inspired many more times that globally with the writing and recording of the worship song “Healer” in Hillsong latest album. Faith communities outside Australia are also wholly drenched in God’s presence in worship with that song and the faith it represents. I believe many people especially those who are weak-physically, mentally and spiritually, are ministered-holding on tightly to that very promise of the song, the faith and that hope.  Unfortunately, I’m afraid some of them may be disrupted by such an outcome.

Within my spirit, I was asking God why did such a thing happen. Why did He allow it in the first place? We all heard the song, sang it, know it word for word. We know it was sincerely written, authentic and good. Why did it turn out like that? As I was asking God and sensing His reply, I got my answer…

You see, when Mike wrote the song, he was physically fine, as in now. But in his flesh, he may be confused. What has Healer got to do with a perfectly fine health body? He thought that he may then need to complement this song Healer with a “condition”, to make the song more powerful and more applicable to him. His intentions may be good, but he made a mistake.

Little did Mike know God knew way back then… Well, when the Holy Spirit commissioned the writing of Healer, Mike may think to have it applied to his “condition”, to be able to help and inspire others. However, God’s application is also for Mike, as in now; all the more. Not for his fake condition but for a real circumstance after his confession. God’s wisdom transcends time and space. His tender mercy and unfailing love is, not for the righteous but for the sinners.

Our Healer! all the more..., God Series Jesus Heals

a simple conversation from God

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32

The “condition” maybe fake, but the song is real, the situation is real, the process of healing is real. And most of all, our HEALER, Jesus is real!   “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Hey Mike if you are reading this, ironically, this song is specially for you, brother.  Hang on to Jesus!!

You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease

Healer, This is Our God, Hillsong

I trust in you
I trust in you

I believe
You’re my healer
I believe
You are all I need
I believe
You’re my portion
I believe
You’re more than enough for me
Jesus, you’re all I need

Nothing is impossible for you
Nothing is impossible
Nothing is impossible for you
You hold my world in your hands

In addition, I felt that there is no need to question the integrity of the song. Avoiding singing this song due to the situation I think may be an over-reaction. This is simply because this song is not about Mike, not about his “condition” or the absence of it. It is about Jesus, about our God, about His healing, His faithfulness, His power and His majesty. There is surely no question about that.

  1. I agree, and feel the same way you do. Praise Jesus!

  2. we are all saved by grace… If we have been forgiven, then we should forgive. If the brother knows 1st john 1:9, and practices it, then God has forgiven him, and who am I to hold it against him?
