The Five Solas
Sola Scriptura : Scripture alone
I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. Psalm 138:2
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Solus Christus: Christ alone
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. Colossians 1:13-18 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Sola Gratia: Grace alone
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:7-8
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Romans 5:15
Sola Fide: Faith alone
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2
Soli Deo Gloria: Glory To God alone
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. Revelation 1:6
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. Romans 11:36

Glad to share my artwork and don’t mind sharing some bandwith but I think a link back is only appropriate and a plug:
You can get the image above and other Reformation themed images on a t-shirt from Reformation Hardware.

What does the term “Solas” mean? I’ve never heard of it before.
Thanks…
and thanks for the edification on the site. The list of how Jesus is represented in every book of the bible is the most thorough I’ve ever come across. Very much appreciated.
The Five solas are five Latin phrases that emerged during the Protestant Reformation and summarize the Reformers’ basic theological beliefs in contradistinction to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church of the day. The Latin word sola means “alone” or “only” in English. The five solas articulated five fundamental beliefs of the Protestant Reformation, pillars which the Reformers believed to be essentials of the Christian life and practice.
see here.
If Martin Luther spent his energy reforming the Roman Catholic Church from within as Saint francis of Assissi did and placed his trust in god to help him, we probably would have avoided the great split, as church reforms could have developed .He should have worked hard towards making things righteous within the persons. cHURCHES ARE BUILDINGS, IT IS THE PEOPLE INSIDE THAT DEFINES WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG, BOTH BY THEIR OWN ACTIONS AND WORDS. CHANGE CAN COME ABOUT THROUGH OPEN AND HONEST DIALOGUE, NOT BY HAVING CLOSED MINDS. WHEN PEOPLE BECOME JUST AND RIGHTEOUS IN THE EYES OF God THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN SIGNIFICANT AND EFFECTIVE CHAges occur.
Buildings are not churches; We are the Body of Christ ie the Church. That is what the Bible says.
