The Battle is Mine – Rest

Been procrastinating on this subject. Just received a comment from prossie about her struggle and pain here, my hearts goes out to her. I admit I don’t have all the answer or solution, but my God say “The Battle is Mine – REST!”

How many times have we heard that to make it in life, we have to work really hard. Struggle to the top, and there life will be good. The world concept is simply, “No pain, No gain”. Since young in school, we have been told to work hard to make good grades. At work, we are told to work hard to make good profits or profile. While we are to work hard to strive the best for the glory of our Lord, reap what we sow, but we have to ask what is our motive? Did we import these concepts even into our faith and walk with God?

The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”   Psalms 110:1

From the above, God is speaking to Jesus to sit (and rest) until I MAKE your enemies becomes your footstool. As we are seated with Christ, we are to rest and God will make you enemies, your struggle, your trouble, your pain and your anguish under your feet!

This is God’s promise, that if we are with Jesus Christ, God Himself is with us. And if He is with us who can be against us!  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.   Ephesians 2:6-7

The Battle is Mine - Rest, Rest

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”   Matthew 11:28-30

We are always called to rest no matter the situation we are in, or even when we don’t know what is going on. Like the Passover in Egypt, God’s people was told to stay in the house, and God is the one fighting the battle. God’s good intention is for us to rest, not as slaves but as heirs who reign with Christ! We are no longer under bondage to our sinful self, the fallen world and Satan. God will battle and work for us as we delight in Him. Jesus’ yoke is light not because it is really light, but because He is bearing it for us, that’s why it is light when He offered it to us! Our only job then is to focus on Jesus Christ!

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.   Hebrews 4:15-16
