Patience in Suffering, Patience through the defeats

Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your “Yes” be yes, and your “No,” no, or you will be condemned.   James 5:7-11

While here on earth, we are not going to pretend life is going to be care-free and perfect because we all know in this fallen world, it is not. The full blessings and relationship with God had been broken in the Garden of Eden. We have been cheated of our status, robbed of our inheritance, and slaughted by death upon the judgement. We had fallen from the heavenly Presence into the stinking sewer of fiery hell and death.

Then Jesus came.

Like how the farmer waited for the crop to yield, we must wait patiently for the glorious coming of our Lord. We must persevere in the midst of the fallen world. Like the parable of the weeds or wheats and tares, as the fallen world grows more corrupted under the deceiver, the righteous must and will grow stronger, more resilient and mature under the Redeemer. The valuable crop the Lord is waiting for.

Patience in Suffering, Somewhere far beyond

The key is this: The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. Even at the lowest valley, Light shines through.

Want a lift up?

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?   He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.   He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.   Psalm 24:3-5
