Warning: Please read my post before watching. And if my writing didn’t make sense to you, I wouldn’t recommend you watching the video.

I didn’t like the video on this site, so the link is here.

I happened to stumble upon this video in Godtube, and after watching, I felt quite troubled after that. This video is a part sermon of Paris Reidhead who forewarns of practicing humanism: serving God for a believer’s own benefits.

Ten Shekels and a Shirt, Rooms

The main point of the message is that Jesus deserves the worship, adoration, love and obedience of the believers, and should not be because of the believers’ self-serving mentality of getting saved and get to heaven. It further says that if the only reason a “believer” repented just to keep out of hell, then he is nothing more than a Levite serving for 10 shekels and a shirt. Hmmm…

While I full agree that Jesus deserves all the glory, honor, worship, praise, obedience, adoration and love, but my point is that if that was all Jesus was concern about, then He could have just stayed in heaven and “enjoy all the attention” due to him there! in full glory of the entire heaven and its hosts.

But no.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.   John 3:16

God so loved, He gave His only Son, and Jesus came 1 Tim 1:15, so that we as believers shall not perish but have life in the company of Jesus for all eternity in heaven. Jesus is more concern about you than His own glory, that He left His glory in heaven and came down to earth to die on that cross for you. There is no glory at the cross. If Jesus is only after glory, He will never be found at the cross.   Philippians 2:5-11

Ten Shekels and a Shirt, We Love Him

Hallelujah! That’s why we have an amazing God with the most amazing grace. There will be true no worship, no adoration, no praise, no obedience, no love if people do not know about the love of God and the grace of Jesus, that has been freely given. We love God, because He first loved us, 1 John 4:19.

We can never earn or contribute any glory for God. Only Jesus can bring glory to the Father. It is God who brought us glory through Jesus Christ.   Hebrews 2:10-11

Why do sinners repent?

Because we see the real great love the Father has lavished on us through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross, that we can be call the children of God! And that is what we are!   1 John 3:1-6

Everything else is a huge bonus.

  1. Keith says:

This is one of the greatest sermons I’ve ever heard. Jesus did not come just to save us from sin. Jesus primary reason for coming was to do the will of His Father. Are we not to be conformed to the image of Christ? Should not our sole purpose also be the will of our Father? Should not everything in comparison to serving God seem worthless? Is he not worthy enough to receive such devotion?

“Jesus is more concern about you than His own glory, that He left His glory in heaven and came down to earth to die on that cross for you.”

It is true that Jesus is more concerned about us but don’t you know that bringing His Father glory is abundantly more important than His love for us. Do you know why Jesus asked God to remove this cup of suffering? Jesus could not bear being removed from the presence of God for a moment. He had to become an abomination to God, as he beared the sin of the world. If His main purpose was the love of man He would have joyfully went to the cross.

How can you say we can never contribute any glory to God? I pray that your eyes will be opened to the true gospel!

  2. King David says:

Jesus deserves all the glory and honor. All our devotion, worship and praise. But my point is if Jesus is just concern with that, He could have just stayed in heaven to enjoy all that from the angels.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. 1 John 3:16

He came because He cares and to do His Father’s will because He cares too.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24

We, the redeemed gained glory from the Father through the Son. We do not produce our own glory. Like the moon it receive the light from the sun, the moon does not produce its own light. The moon’s brightness can never contribute to the sun, because whatever light it has comes from the sun in the first place.

Simiarly, we cannot therefore contribute to the glory of God. God is glorified by Himself. He is perfect by Himself. Man cannot add glory to God because whatever man’s glory is from Him in the first place.
