The Old White House and The New Black President, The White House

The President-elect of the United States of America, Barack Obama. The first African American to be elected as President into the White House; a great feat, coming from a minority race in a country where the history of black African Americans started when they were first shipped into Colonial America as slaves in the 16th to 19th centuries, see here. They have progess far ahead as a nation since. The US presidential election transcends American politics because the reality is that the US president wields enormous power, that the United States of America and its policies have a profound effects globally.

In his victory speech, with the President-elect gave a realistic “the road ahead will be long” and “climb will be steep” outlook; we see a down-to-earth man. Yet he is inspiring and hopeful: “We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.  I promise you – we as a people will get there.”

This man has a great responsiblity and task ahead. We should all pray for this fellow brother-in-Christ. For believers who are citizens of America or residents there, you should all the more pray for him (even if there are differences politically); here’s sample prayer that may be helpful.

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.” More importantly, I think the people of America must go back to the very foundation of their forefathers on the building of the nation of the United States of America. They must look back to their roots and heritage to gain a sense of direction, destiny and purpose. And they don’t have to look far actually. It is over the walls of the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial; the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance.

The foundation of this great nation is that the founders built the nation on the Word and Truth of the Trinity God! Even the civil laws were taken from the Scriptures. The history tells us that the early fathers left places of bondage for a dream; to build a country of freedom to worship the one True God. That is the very foundation of the nation, the essence of the people, and the divine blessing that has been on the country. The United States of America has to come back to this foundation based on God and His Word.

In such a time of financial and economic ramblings, the answer may very well have already been printed on the humble US dollar note way back.

The Old White House and The New Black President, In God We Trust

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13
