 Jesus Loves Me This I Know, “The eyes indicate the antiquity of the soul”

Sometimes, or rather most of the time, we need to get back to the very basics, the very foundation of our faith. To see the very simple and humble, Jesus mentioned to be like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven. And the fundenmentals cannot be simpler than this hymn or Sunday School “anthem” of  Jesus Loves Me This I Know.

“Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Chorus:

“Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

“Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying, ‘Let them come to Me.’

Repeat Chorus

“Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give
Light and love to all who live.

Repeat Chorus

“Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Repeat Refrain

“Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Repeat Chorus

Oh and I found another precious site where people wrote in to continue the hymn, see here. I will just extract some here…

Jesus, take this heart of mine,
Make it pure and holy thine;
On the cross you died for me,
I will try to live for Thee.

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
“Have no fear, for I am near.”

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus likes to hear me say,
That I love Him every day!

Jesus died upon the tree
Yes He died for you and me
But he did not stay that way
No, He rose again this day!

Jesus knows me, this I love,
All great things are from above;
Though I sin, the Lord forgives,
That is why I’m glad He lives!

Simply amazing…
