A Constant Expectation of Good

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.   Romans 5:1-11

Suppose you are a farmer and when you put your seeds into the ground, you expect a harvest. That, my friend, if you think through the entire process of death and germination, is by itself a miracle; and we have that expectation of the good; the harvest. You see, when you plant a seed, getting back a seed is fair, but getting a harvest with thousands and millions of seeds in return, is an expectation of good.

God is so good.

It is just that we are so conditioned to see things as natural or matter-of-factly, but the real fact is that we are living miracles after miracles every minute. The next very breath you take is a beautiful gift from God! He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. Acts 17:25  All satisfactions and fulfilments came from God. Every moment of our lives are opportunities for thanksgiving!

This is not empty physiological, mind or optimistism conditioning. This is directed gratefulness and a constant expectation of good because of a good GOD! The One who gave up everything, came and saved us. And since He has given His all, what other “good” things He will withheld from us? We can have a confident expectation of good happening because we are not like the people of the world. We are the children of the living God. We have a Saviour watching over us. There are more angels given charge over us than there are demons against us. And greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

There is every reason to have a confident expectation of good happening to us!
