The Inheritance Blessings Through Christ in Deuteronomy 28

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.   And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan. Ephesians 1:3 & 10-11

If a hotshot lawyer called you up and informed you that you have inherited a huge inheritance from someone really prominent, would you be excited? Would you be interested to know all the details of your inheritance? Obviously, so.  You would probably read every letter so as not to miss anything, no matter how minor or meagre, right?

The Bible, like the hotshot lawyer, now calls you and inform you that you have a huge inheritance from the God Himself in Deuteronomy 28:1-14.  And Jesus Christ has fulfilled every contractual requirement of fully obedient and fully followed God’s law. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us. (Romans 8:4)

Now, the details of the inheritance will be listed below. Would you be interested to know?

The Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God (that is already fulfilled through Jesus Christ):

  1. You’ll be blessed in the city and blessed in the fields.
  2. You’ll be blessed with children and crops and cattle.
  3. Your herds will multiply, and your flocks will increase.
  4. Your basket will be blessed; it will be full at harvest time, and your kneading bowl will be blessed; you’ll always have plenty of bread.
  5. You’ll be blessed when you go out of your home and blessed when you return to your home.
  6. The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!
  7. The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
  8. The Lord will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you.
  9. The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops.
  10. The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do.
  11. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.
  12. The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.

The Inheritance Blessings Through Christ in Deuteronomy 28

And peeps, we haven’t gone to the heavenly part yet!

We don’t have to keep asking God for His blessings, because He has already given them to us in the first place. It is part of our inheritance through Christ, His Son. And now, we as the children of God, it is ours and our right to claim it. The enemy wants you to think that you still haven’t fulfil all the requirements thus cannot claim the inheritance. And if you don’t claim them, it will still be sitting uselessly above, while you pray and beg God for it.

The key to unlock all these inheritance blessings is Jesus Christ, the One who fulfilled all the commandants and laws and fully follow them (Matthew 5:17), so that we can now claim the inheritance God has for us!

And that’s our spiritual blessings!

Just what I need to be reminded of today. Thank you for being a mouthpiece of God to remind me of His faithfulness and that even in times that seem hopeless, He is the one to cling to with confident expectation.
