God's Flowers

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.   Matthew 6:30-34

The WAY

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” John 14:6-7

Night at the Lake

In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

“See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.    Isaiah 54:14-17

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!

This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves.

Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

This is my command: Love each other.

(‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭9-17‬ NLT)

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armour and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. (‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭4-5‬ NLT)

He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armour and protection.

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.

Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.

Psalms 91:4-7

Mystified

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God – soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.

When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse everything I know of you,
Then God promises to love me all day, sing songs all through the night!
My life is God’s prayer.

Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God, “Why did you let me down?
Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?”
They’re out for the kill, these tormentors with their obscenities,
Taunting day after day, “Where is this God of yours?”

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God – soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.

Clear my name, God; stick up for me against these loveless, immoral people.
Get me out of here, away from these lying degenerates. I counted on you, God.
Why did you walk out on me? Why am I pacing the floor, wringing my hands over these outrageous people?

Give me your lantern and compass, give me a map, So I can find my way to the sacred mountain, to the place of your presence, To enter the place of worship, meet my exuberant God, Sing my thanks with a harp, magnificent God, my God.

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God – soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.

Psalms 42-43

Wait for me… Lift me.
I will soon be praising again… He’s my God…
